The Angela Fleischman lab at UC Irvine is dedicated to understanding the pathogenesis of myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN or MPD) which includes polycythemia vera, essential thrombocythemia, myelofibrosis). Our focus is on the role of inflammation in MPN.

Gaja completed her doctoral training at the Medical University of Vienna, Austria and was a post-doctoral fellow at UCLA before joining the Fleischman lab. She is now interested in studying the impact of smoking and vaping on the malignant transformation of HSCs and thrombosis in the context of MPNs.
